An open door = NEUTRAL / NOTHING
Some highlights from Spruce’s Documentary in Classroom. He now has 6 videos and it’s only day 2. Most are taught “sit and wait” before going out a door. This often breaks down because the dog anxiously WANTS TO get out.
Teach, an open door is no different than a picture on a wall. Means nothing until released.
During training I’ll have several doors open (safely during training phase) where the dog can make a choice.
Restrictions (leash) = management. Choices (freedom) = trained.
