The Silence Protocol
I’ve been working on a passion project that started out as something very personal. At first, it was just a legacy project for my family: love letters for my wife, points of wisdom for my kids from hard-earned lessons, and reflections on times when I felt I got things right and times when I wished I had done better.
As I worked on it, I used AI to help organize and shape the writing. Then I had this big ‘aha’ moment: what if I died suddenly? No one would even know all the hours I had poured into this project. That led me to wonder, what if I could set up the AI to automatically deliver the letters after 14 days of silence? That question became the spark for an entire story.
I could not get the idea out of my head, so I just dove in. Over two months of working at a frenetic pace, I ended up writing a 92,000 word novel. And like all things I do, I could not just write one book. Noooooo. LOL. Before I even finished book one, the idea for book two hit me. As I was wrapping up the final chapters, a single sentence sparked a massive idea for book three. While developing the outline for book two, it kept expanding until I realized I had to split it into three parts.
To make things even more ridiculous, a good friend of mine read book one, loved it, and asked about one of the hinted backstories. He said, ‘You know, that really should be its own book.’ And now I have a prequel to write too. Sigh.
So the project is now six books in total: the five-book series The Silence Protocol, plus the prequel The Jakarta Incident.
Chapter one is uploaded for fun if anyone wants to read it.
