Day 4: 7-Day Challenge
Doing Day 4 a little differently, and here's why: I'm in the middle of formally registering my company names — Buckley Growth Partners (BGP) and BGP Studios, the video production arm. This is available and confident wll clear, I'm not pushing new branding live on LinkedIn, X, or Facebook just to redo it in two weeks. So consider this post my staging ground. Everything below is draft, and I want a second set of eyes on it before it goes public. Audit away.
The accounts I'm using and why:
LinkedIn — primary. My avatar is small and medium-sized business owners, and LinkedIn is where they make B2B decisions and where referral partners live. This is where I'll post 2x/week plus daily commenting. My old linkedin https://www.linkedin.com/in/charlesbuckleyit/ I know I need to create a new one since it doesn't match what the company will be.
Facebook — local play. Central Illinois business owners live in Facebook groups and chamber circles, not on X. This is my community-visibility channel.
X — secondary. Industry conversation and testing hooks, low investment for now.
Instagram (@bgpstudios) — portfolio channel for the video arm once it's rolling. Also available.
Profile photo: Updating — open to feedback on whether this reads "trusted local partner" or needs a reshoot.
Banner concept (built from the Day 4 Canva template): Steel Blue background, Slate Gray accents, one line in Safety Orange: "Marketing off your plate. Customers in the door." with the BGP name and a "DM me to talk" prompt on the right side. Will build final art once the name is locked.
Headline — I've got three options and I'd genuinely like votes:
Option A (slogan-forward): I take marketing off your plate and put customers in the door | Done-for-you digital marketing for small & mid-sized businesses | 25+ years in the game | Founder, Buckley Growth Partners | DM "GROW" to talk
Option B (proof-forward): Marketing since 1999 — from direct mail to AI | I help small & medium businesses win a steady stream of new customers | Founder, BGP + BGP Studios | DM me for a free 15-min marketing checkup
Option C (story-forward): 25 years a Chicago firefighter. 25+ years a marketer. | Now I bring firehouse standards to small business marketing — done for you | Founder, BGP | DM "CUSTOMERS" to start
Draft About section:
Most marketing guys learned business from a screen. I learned it from 25 years on a Chicago fire truck.
I spent my career as a firefighter-paramedic — a job where showing up, telling the truth, and doing the work right isn't a slogan, it's the whole job. The entire time, I was building a second craft: digital marketing. I started in 1999, in the direct-response era, when your ad either made the phone ring or it didn't. I've kept my skills and certifications current through every wave since — search, social, funnels, and now AI.
Today I created Buckley Growth Partners (BGP), a done-for-you marketing company for small and medium-sized business owners, and BGP Studios, our video production arm.
Here's what I know about business owners: you're great at what you do, and marketing keeps falling to the bottom of the to-do list. Not because you don't care — because you're busy running the business. That's the gap I fill. I handle the marketing so you can count on a steady stream of new customers without becoming a marketer yourself.
My mission is simple: bring firehouse standards — show up, tell the truth, do the job right — to small business marketing.
If that's the kind of partner you want in your corner, send me a DM.
Where I want your eyes: Which headline? Does the About story land or is the firefighter angle too much? And sanity-check my sequencing — hold profile changes until the name registration clears, or update now with what I have?
Funny Paramedic Story - I was called Ferris during my ff/paramedic years. I was called to a school that was on fire. A news team was filming me and partner Tracy bringing a string of kids out using the walking train method. Hence the name Ferris. I got suspended because I was suppose to wait for backup.
