Evil with Good
Scripture:
Romans 12:21 (KJV)
“Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”
Today’s Reflection:
In a world filled with challenges, conflicts, and negativity, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the “evil” around us, whether it’s personal hurts, societal injustices, or our own inner struggles. But Paul’s words in Romans remind us that we don’t have to be defeated by these forces. Instead, we’re called to respond with goodness. This isn’t about being naive or passive; it’s an active choice to counter darkness with light. Think about a time when someone’s kindness diffused your anger or turned a bad situation around. That’s the power of overcoming evil with good, it transforms not just the moment, but hearts and relationships too. Today, let’s commit to small acts of goodness: a forgiving word, a helping hand, or a prayer for an enemy. In doing so, we align with God’s redemptive plan and find strength in His grace.
Today’s Application:
Identify one area in your life where evil (like resentment or discouragement) is trying to take hold. Choose a specific way to overcome it with good, perhaps reaching out to someone who’s wronged you or volunteering your time. Watch how God uses your obedience to bring peace and growth.
Today’s Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the wisdom in Your Word that guides us through tough times. Help me not to be overcome by evil today, but to overcome it with the good You place in my heart. Give me the courage to respond with love and kindness, even when it’s hard. May Your goodness shine through me and impact those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
