Starting with the Ten Words: The First Three Commandments
When I look back on my journey becoming "Torah Observant" I remember acknowledging the ten commandments first, and then realizing just how easy they were and analyzing the expansion of those ten, throughout the "Old Testament."
Yes, the ten commandments seem easy. Who would argue that we could keep those, in our modern times? We are trained and brain-washed to believe that the first three were the obvious and easy parts, and that Jesus was the fulfillment of them, nothing to worry about.
Let's dissect the possibilities.
Exodus 20:2-3
I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods beside me.
What if Jesus Christ is that false god, a man called god, made equal with Him whom He is warning us against trusting in.😔
v. 4-6 You shall not make to yourself an idol, nor likeness of anything, whatever things are in the heaven above, and whatever are in the earth beneath, and whatever are in the waters under the earth. You shall not bow down to them, nor serve them, for I am a jealous God, recompensing the sins of the fathers upon the children, to the third and fourth generation to them that hate me, and bestowing mercy on those that love me to thousands of them, and on them that keep my commandments.
A man is in the likeness of created beings on earth. The man of Jesus Christ is in the likeness of mankind. We made a man and called him God. Quite literally, if the New Testament is true, a woman named Mary and a man named Joseph MADE a man and then the generations to follow up until now have bowed down to him, served him, worshiped him, and called him something He is not. We have idolized him. 🤢😬🤮😫😡
v. 7 You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain; for the Lord your God will not acquit him that takes His name in vain.
Do we not bring His name to nothing, as this god-man is the name many use to talk about their interaction with Him? Do we not bring His name to nothing by never using it, but instead using a title meaning "Mighty One" or "The Most High?"
If someone asked you what "God''s name is, would you immediately know and respond? Wouldn't it shock you for someone to ask such a thing? It shouldn't. His name was given in the Holy Scriptures and then translated right out of them. Ancient Holy men decided that to avoid the breaking of this commandment, they'd just switch the Holy name of The Most High with a title. 🧐
If you knew this already, then I'm sure you're aware the name for The Most High is not 100% clear through translation into our modern languages. I am certain that Yah is the first sound. You'll see that I would rather call Him Yah, than God, but for the sake of helping the masses to understand my content, I am using the well-known titles to communicate, too.
Even so, imagine answering the question of His name with, "Jesus," and this Jesus is an idol and false god, created by human minds and hands. Don't you feel sick to your stomach just at the mention of something so simple, that you and everyone you know and are close to are guilty of? It's gut-wrenching. It's disgusting. But repentance is available to all. Thank Yah for His desire to forgive and save those whose hearts are turned to Him, and Him alone.👇
Ezekiel 18:29
Yet the House of Israel will say, "The way of the Lord is not right."
"Is not my way right, O House of Israel? Is not your way wrong? I will judge you, O House of Israel," says the Lord, "each one according to his way: be converted and turn from all your ungodliness, and it shall not become to you, the punishment of iniquity. Cast away from yourselves all your ungodliness wherein you have sinned against me; and make to yourselves a new heart and a new spirit: for why should you die, O House of Israel? For I desire not the death of him that dies," says the Lord.🥳
