If youre not going to be home during the day and your house is empty, you turn off your lights right? But why is it that when you leave your house you dont turn off your heater? Well you shouldn't turn off your heater because you'll actually waste more gas or electricity by trying to warm the house BACK up to where your comfortable. Instead try this.
Lower the temperature to 60°F while youre gone and when you come back raise it to whatever you want it to be. This way youre not over working your heater but its not trying to keep your house only a few degrees above outside constantly.
