This answer is a combination of the authenticity assignment and the “trust fund“
Honestly, this feels vulnerable to put out there, but I know that growth often begins outside of our comfort zones.
The truth is, investing in myself has been hard the past few months. I’ve been struggling with depression, and I feel some shame admitting that I’ve had a relapse in letting my mental health get the best of me. But I know that my mental health is not something to be ashamed of. Simply recognizing where I’m at—and wanting to move forward—is already an accomplishment.. I’m someone who naturally encourages and lifts others up—I can cheer others on, find the words to remind them of their strength, and believe in their ability to get through hard seasons. But when it comes to myself, I struggle to extend that same grace. That’s an area I want to grow in: learning to give myself the same encouragement I so freely give to others.
So, my trust fund starts small. And I’m reminding myself that even the smallest deposits add up:
✨ Setting timers on my phone so I remember to take my supplements, giving my body the fuel it needs.
✨ Committing to finally getting my lab work done this week—something my anxiety has been holding me back from for months now, but I know is important.
To some, these things might look small. But when I’m in these “down periods,” even getting out of bed can feel like a mountain. I know this time will pass, as it always does. For now, I’m practicing being gentle with myself, recognizing the effort it takes, and letting myself be proud of the fact that I am trying.
For now, my investment is to practice patience, release shame, and recognize that showing up for myself—even imperfectly—is worth celebrating.
If you’re also in a season where progress feels small, I hope you’ll remember with me: small steps are still steps forward 💛✨
