The Steadiest Mind
Super excited to be here and have a community I can share this with that will actually appreciate it.
This is a book I read every year, multiple times a year. It's by Michael Jordan's trainer, Tim Grover, who started working with MJ to get past the Pistons and win his first NBA championship, all the way to the end of his 6-championship run.
You see why every other player was terrified of the Black Cat when he got on the basketball court:
His MIND.
Nothing shook him... EVER. He always had ice in his veins, and you see how working with a guy like Tim Grover (who is equally relentless) allowed him to shut out all the noise and become unstoppable.
Tim shares his mentality as Michael's personal trainer, and it's a window into a mind of such unforgiving focus, I think any Steady Minder would appreciate: "If you ever find me and a bear wrestling in the woods... help the bear."
I listen to the audiobook over and over, because it's like a collection of mantras that embody the Cognitive Fitness Bootcamp. Tim gives examples through stories of other legends like Kobe Bryant and Dwayne Wade, and how their mindset made all the difference in their own championship runs.
I can't recommend the book enough. I had to share it here in Seth's community, and hope it impacts your life as much as it has mine.
