๐Ÿ’œ Nursing from the Inside Out โ€” Chakra Balancing โœฆ
We have arrived at the final post in this series.
And it could not have ended anywhere else. ๐Ÿ’™
Because chakra balancing is not just another modality in the toolkit.
It is the map that made sense of all the other modalities. The connective tissue that
wove Jin Shin Jyutsu, Reiki, Healing Touch, yoga, hypnotherapy, and aromatherapy
into a single, coherent, breathtakingly elegant understanding of the human being.
When I found the chakra system โ€” through all of the above, because it was there
inside every modality I had already been practicing โ€” something clicked into place
that I had been reaching for without knowing I was reaching for it.
This is what the whole thing is. This is the map.
โœฆ How it found me โœฆ
I did not find chakra balancing. It found me โ€” gradually, persistently, through every
door I had already walked through.
It was there in Kundalini Yoga โ€” the entire technology of Kundalini is organized
around moving energy through the seven chakras. It was there in Reiki โ€”
the assessment and balancing of the chakra system is woven into Reiki
practice at every level. It was there in Healing Touch โ€” Janet Mentgen's
chakra connection technique is one of the foundational practices of her entire
body of work. It was there in Jin Shin Jyutsu โ€” the Safety Energy Locks map
onto and interact with the chakra system in ways that took years to fully appreciate.
Every modality was already speaking the same language. The chakra system
gave me the grammar.
I eventually studied formally through Reiki Blessings Academy โ€” a school I
found in the mysterious way that the right teachers always seem to appear,
through a path I cannot now fully reconstruct. What I know is that I arrived there.
And what I learned there completed something that had been building for decades.
โœฆ What are the chakras? โœฆ
The word chakra comes from the Sanskrit for wheel or circle โ€” and that is exactly
what they are: spinning vortices of energy located along the central axis of the body,
from the base of the spine to the crown of the head.
In yogic, Ayurvedic, and many Eastern healing traditions, the chakras are
understood as the body's primary energy centers โ€” the points where the physical
body and the energetic body intersect. Where consciousness meets matter. Where the invisible becomes visible in the form of physical, emotional, and spiritual health or dis-ease.
There are seven primary chakras ๐Ÿ‘‡
๐Ÿ”ด Root Chakra โ€” Muladhara โ€” Base of the spine
Safety, security, groundedness, survival, physical identity
When balanced: you feel stable, safe, connected to the earth and your body
When imbalanced: fear, anxiety, financial insecurity, physical symptoms
in the legs, feet, and lower back
๐ŸŸ  Sacral Chakra โ€” Svadhisthana โ€” Below the navel
Creativity, sexuality, pleasure, emotional fluidity, relationships
When balanced: creative flow, emotional resilience, healthy boundaries
When imbalanced: guilt, shame, emotional rigidity, reproductive and
lower abdominal symptoms
๐ŸŸก Solar Plexus Chakra โ€” Manipura โ€” Above the navel
Personal power, will, confidence, identity, self-esteem
When balanced: personal authority, confidence, healthy boundaries
When imbalanced: powerlessness, control issues, digestive symptoms, burnout
๐Ÿ’š Heart Chakra โ€” Anahata โ€” Center of the chest
Love, compassion, connection, forgiveness, the bridge between body and spirit
When balanced: genuine compassion, healthy relationships, capacity to give
and receive love
When imbalanced: grief, loneliness, inability to receive care โ€” the nurse wound,
right here, in the center of the chest
๐Ÿ’™ Throat Chakra โ€” Vishuddha โ€” Throat
Communication, truth, authentic expression, voice
When balanced: clear, honest, confident expression
When imbalanced: difficulty speaking truth, swallowing words, thyroid imbalances
โ€” the silenced nurse, right here
๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Third Eye Chakra โ€” Ajna โ€” Between the eyebrows
Intuition, insight, inner knowing, clinical wisdom beyond the visible
When balanced: clear intuition, discernment, the capacity to see what is not being said
When imbalanced: confusion, overthinking, disconnection from inner knowing
โ€” the gaslit nurse, right here
๐ŸŸฃ Crown Chakra โ€” Sahasrara โ€” Top of the head
Connection to the divine, universal consciousness, spiritual awareness,
the highest point of consciousness
When balanced: a sense of meaning, spiritual connection,
the experience of being part of something larger than oneself
When imbalanced: spiritual disconnection, existential emptiness,
the moral injury of a nurse who has lost her sense of purpose โ€” right here
โœฆ Do you see it? โœฆ
Read those imbalances again. Slowly. ๐Ÿ’™
The heart chakra โ€” the inability to receive care. The nurse who gives everything
and receives nothing.
The throat chakra โ€” difficulty speaking truth, swallowing words. The silenced nurse.
The silence culture we named in Book 6.
The third eye chakra โ€” disconnection from inner knowing, the gaslit nurse who
stopped trusting her own perception.
The crown chakra โ€” spiritual disconnection, loss of meaning, moral injury.
The chakra system is not just an ancient energy map. It is a precise diagnostic framework for everything that nursing as a profession does to the human beings who practice it.
And it is the most complete picture of healing I have ever encountered โ€”
because it does not separate the physical from the emotional from the spiritual.
It holds them all simultaneously, as one integrated whole.
This is what I mean when I say the chakra system connected everything. ๐Ÿ’™
โœฆ How I work with chakras โœฆ
Over the years I have worked with the chakra system through every tool available to me ๐Ÿ‘‡
๐Ÿ”ฎ Pendulum & assessment work โ€” using a pendulum to assess the rotation,
direction, and vitality of each chakra. Reading the energy before the hands begin their work.
๐Ÿคฒ Hands-on energy balancing โ€” placing the hands at each chakra point, feeling for congestion, depletion, heat, cold, tingling, the specific quality of each center's energy. Working with whatever is there.
๐Ÿ’Ž Crystals & vibrational tools โ€” each crystal carries a specific energetic frequency that resonates with specific chakras. Placing them at the chakra points amplifies and supports the balancing work.
๐ŸŒˆ Color & sound therapy โ€” each chakra resonates with a specific color and a specific sound frequency. Using color visualization and toning or singing bowls to work vibrationally with the energy centers.
๐ŸŒฟ Aromatherapy โ€” specific essential oils correspond to specific chakras, supporting their balance through the olfactory-limbic pathway. Jin Shin Jyutsu, Healing Touch, Reiki โ€” all of these already working with chakra energy, now understood through the chakra map explicitly.
Every tool. Every modality. All of it speaking the language of the chakra system once I had the map to read it by.
โœฆ What it did for me โœฆ
The nurse who gives so much that she empties herself has a depleted heart chakra โ€” and likely an overactive one. The nurse who swallows her voice has a blocked throat chakra. The nurse who stopped trusting her instincts has a dimmed third eye. The nurse who has lost her sense of purpose has a disconnected crown.
Reading those sentences โ€” for the first time, years into my nursing career โ€” felt like being handed the diagnosis for something I had been symptomatic of for a very long time.
Understanding the chakra system did not immediately heal what was out of balance. But it named it. With precision. With compassion. With the specific, embodied clarity of a framework that says: here is where the energy is stuck, here is what it means, and here is what the body needs to restore its flow.
That naming was everything. ๐Ÿ’™
โœฆ Try this โ€” right now โœฆ
Place your right hand on the center of your chest โ€” your heart chakra. ๐Ÿ’š
Close your eyes. Breathe slowly. Feel the warmth of your hand against your sternum.
And ask yourself โ€” honestly, gently โ€” am I allowing myself to receive right now? Am I as open to receiving care as I am to giving it?
Whatever arises โ€” simply notice it. Without judgment. With the compassion you would extend to any patient in your care.
That is chakra awareness. That is the beginning of heart chakra healing. And it is available to you in this moment, with nothing but your own hand and your own honest attention.
โœฆ The series comes full circle โœฆ
We began this series with Jin Shin Jyutsu โ€” an ancient Japanese art that works
with the body's energy locks.
We traveled through Reiki โ€” the universal life force energy channeled through
the compassionate practitioner.
We honored Healing Touch and Therapeutic Touch โ€” the modalities that gave
energy healing a nursing home.
We practiced Kundalini and Ashtanga Yoga โ€” the ancient technologies of breath,
movement, and awakening.
We descended into the subconscious through Hypnotherapy โ€” and found what
lives in the deeper rooms.
We followed the herbs to the oils and watched botanical medicine heal a child's skin โ€”
and birth a company.
And now we arrive here. At the map that holds them all.
The chakra system is the architecture of the human being โ€” physical, emotional,
energetic, and spiritual โ€” in a single, integrated, endlessly deep framework.
And nursing from the inside out โ€” truly, fully, from the highest point of your consciousness โ€” means knowing this architecture. Working with it. Respecting it. And eventually, finally, turning it inward and allowing it to heal the healer. ๐Ÿ’™
โœฆ The invitation โœฆ
Do you work with the chakra system? Through Reiki, through yoga, through your own study? ๐Ÿ’œ
What tools do you use โ€” pendulum, crystals, sound, color, hands?
Which chakra are you working on right now? Which one stopped you as you read the
imbalances above?
Drop it all below. Your practice, your experiences, your most profound chakra moments,
your questions, your healings. ๐ŸŒˆ
Because this community โ€” the Nurses Sanctuary โ€” is itself a chakra balancing practice.
A space where nurses come to restore what was depleted, open what was closed,
and remember who they were before the profession asked them to give it all away.
Welcome to the full picture. ๐Ÿ’™
Thank you for walking this series with me.
Better and Beyond โ€” always. โœฆ๐ŸŒˆโฌ‡๏ธ
