What is MyMushin?
The word Maimushin comes from Japanese, combining mai (my or mine) with mushin. Mushin itself is a concept deeply rooted in Zen Buddhism and martial arts, meaning “no mind” — a state of calm presence, clarity, and flow. In Mushin, the mind is free from clutter and overthinking, allowing natural movement and spontaneous action.
In the Mushin Wellbeing® community, we’ve adapted this idea into the phrase MyMushin. Why? Because while the system gives you a framework — choreographed movements, sequences, and practices — the ultimate goal is not to copy them perfectly. The goal is to make Mushin your own.
Your MyMushin is the way you bring these practices to life in your body and in your daily rhythm. It is your personal flow, your individual habit of calm, your unique expression of balance. For one person it may mean gentle movements that release tension; for another it may be breathwork that restores clarity; for someone else it might be a mindful walk that reconnects them to nature.
By practicing regularly, the forms we teach become a starting point. Over time, they evolve into something more natural, personal, and free-flowing — something you carry with you into everyday life.
That is MyMushin: not just the absence of clutter in the mind, but the presence of your own calm, clarity, and flow, practiced in a way that belongs uniquely to you.
