Monday Focus: Grounding the Body and Mind
Grounding techniques help you reconnect with the present moment, especially when stress or distraction takes over. One simple method is the 5-4-3-2-1 technique:
• Notice 5 things you can see
• Notice 4 things you can touch
• Notice 3 things you can hear
• Notice 2 things you can smell
• Notice 1 thing you can taste
This exercise shifts your attention away from worry and back into your body. Try it outside in nature, or quietly at your desk — it takes only a couple of minutes but can completely change your state of mind.
