Summer Fridays ☀️

Growing up in my career in NYC summer Fridays were basically an institution. The city would empty out and everyone headed to the Hamptons. We worked 7am to 7pm all year long but come summer, the unspoken rule was that nobody worked Fridays.

I remember a senior executive asking me if I was planning to come in. Not because he needed me there, but because the expectation was that nobody showed up.

That was the moment something clicked for me.

If I wanted to get where I wanted to go, I had to be willing to do what everyone else wasn't.

Fridays became my best day. Best pickup rate. Most meetings set. Most meaningful conversations. More deals came out of summer Fridays than almost any other day of the year, simply because I was one of the few people who picked up the phone.

The work nobody else wants to do is usually the work that separates you.
