Tim
A positive and proactive player who likes to move forward and apply pressure. He appears comfortable adding pace and taking responsibility for balls in his channel. Loving the new serve and more attacking third shot by the way.
Most effective when reaching the kitchen, establishes his balance and attacks a ball that is genuinely above net height. Alongside a steady partner, his attacking instincts can become a significant asset.
Strengths
  • Positive movement towards the kitchen.
  • Willingness to take attacking opportunities.
  • Comfortable dealing with pace.
  • Useful reach around the middle.
  • Proactive court coverage.
  • Capable of creating pressure for the partnership.
Development priorities
  • Use a wider stance with softer knees.
  • Hold the paddle higher and farther in front.
  • Split-step as the opponent makes contact.
  • Become fully balanced before playing the shot.
  • Shorten the swing during kitchen exchanges.
  • Use a compact block or reset on balls below net height.
  • Advance with the partner rather than arriving significantly ahead - look at your partner and their shot before moving ahead. If it's high - stay back.
  • Trust the partnership to construct the opportunity.
Next improvement will come from becoming more selective. Your positive instincts should remain, but the attack will be more effective when you get set and wait for the correct ball.
Simple cue: “Move in, get set, keep it compact.”
