Lynne next :)
Lynne
Lynne provides a controlled and dependable presence on court. She usually gets her body lower for difficult balls, absorbs pace really effectively and is willing to keep the rally going rather than trying to overpower every shot.
Her calm style can balance an assertive partner well (much needed :)). She is particularly effective when the partnership needs to neutralise pressure and rebuild the rally. Great dinking and resetting.
Strengths
  • Good control on lower balls.
  • Willingness to absorb pace.
  • Patient and sensible shot selection.
  • Useful rally tolerance.
  • Does not attempt to overpower every ball.
  • Capable of providing stability alongside an attacking partner.
Development priorities
  • Keep the paddle head around chest height while waiting.
  • Return the paddle to the ready position after every shot, then track the ball with your paddle.
  • Use a short backswing on volleys and resets.
  • Follow a deep return by moving forward immediately, which will help you not get stuck in the transition zone.
  • Stop and regain balance before playing in transition rather than hitting on the run.
  • Avoid opening the paddle face too much on low balls.
  • Develop a controlled crosscourt dink that moves the opponent out of position - already have a great dinking game
Do not change your controlled style. A higher paddle position and a softer transition reset will help you use that control more effectively.
Simple cue: “Paddle up, stop and soften.”
