Bea
Bea displays many of the qualities that have helped her win medals at 3.0 level at both the English Open and English Nationals. She is composed, maintains useful court positions and is willing to construct the rally rather than trying to win every ball immediately.
Her game is based on repeatability, sensible decisions and rally tolerance. She generally understands when to remain patient and provides a stable platform from which her partner can apply pressure.
Strengths
- Strong rally tolerance.
- Calm and composed decision-making.
- Sensible court positioning.
- Consistent and repeatable shot-making.
- Good awareness of her partner.
- Willingness to play another controlled ball.
- Does not unnecessarily compete for every middle ball.
- Recovers and prepares for the next phase of the rally.
Development priorities
- Make controlled shots more purposeful rather than simply keeping them in play.
- Allow margin for error on the cross court dinks.
- Also target an opponent’s outside foot.
- Keep the paddle slightly higher at the kitchen.
- Use small adjustment steps between contacts.
- Recognise and attack genuine opportunities above net height.
Bea does not need to sacrifice her consistency to become more dangerous. Her next step is to use that consistency to move opponents, create space and produce a predictable attacking opportunity.
Simple cue: “Control first, then create.”
