Doing what you’ve always done will get you what you’ve always had. Changing your bank balance or money stress levels or credit card balances requires you to do something different.
Giving ourselves permission to do that is an entirely different matter.
Often what we do with our money is driven by fear. So what we’ve always done we chose in order to keep ourselves safe. So different can feel very dangerous.
Which often leads to the thought: I can’t do that
Pay attention to how your body responds to new ideas & opportunities. Every new idea is not for you. When an option is presented, do you tense up & get an uncomfortable feeling in the pit of your stomach? Probably not for you.
On the other hand, do you have a new notion cross your path and every cell in your body just lights up? You discover a smile on your face thinking about doing it?
This is a place to pause & listen to the wisdom of your body. So often we have these moments and the thoughts barge in and tell us all the reasons why we can’t. Be careful - it’s called a mindf*ck for a reason and we most often make ourselves the victim.
When trying new things, it’s kind to yourself to take baby steps (unless you’re a leap off a cliff person like me 🤣😂🤣). Leave the mental math out of the equation temporarily.
Consider the possibility of doing the thing. Imagine you’ve already done this new thing you suspect you can’t do. How would it feel to have done something different & gotten a better result?
Wallow around in the possibilities for a moment.
This is the Money Game, being willing to try new things.
And the most crucial piece of trying new things?
Being willing to fail.
That’s what you need to give yourself permission for in order to win the Money Game:
Permission to Fail
Because failure births wisdom. Not the I fell over once, I won’t do that again notion. But the relentless pursuit that has you try over and over again despite failure, finding the hundred or hundred thousand things that don’t work. Until you finally find the one thing that does.
You’ve got it in you, I know you do.
Because you learned to walk.
You can do it again.
