ON THIS DAY
On October 19, 2004, federal authorities and investigators identified the exhumed remains of two high-ranking Bonanno crime family captains—Philip "Phil Lucky" Giaccone and Dominick "Big Trin" Trinchera—who had been missing and presumed murdered for over two decades. [1]
The two mobsters were killed on May 5, 1981, along with fellow captain Carmine Galante associate/capo Alfonse "Sonny Red" Indelicato, during a violent internal power struggle orchestrated by renegade Bonanno faction leader Alphonse Indelicato and boss Joseph Massino. Their bodies were recovered from a makeshift mob graveyard near the Queens-Brooklyn border in New York after cooperating witnesses led the FBI to the site. [1]
