I don't think DevOps have much to fear from AI, yet.
I've been working on a new project with GitHub actions, and trying out the new agent mode in VSCode alongside my normal devcontainer based workflow with neovim.
Every time I ask it to help me with a workflow, it first asks to create the directory. For some reason, it can't understand that it has been there ever since the dinosaurs walked around on this planet.
I don't think we have much to fear of AI just yet.
In fact, I believe DevOps Engineers will become increasingly important with the rise of AI.
Think about it: most, if not all AI training and inference happens on Kubernetes. The data & ML engineers want to have environments where they can do their best work and be productive within minutes.
Who is going to do that job? Who is setting up the monitoring and scaling the infrastructure?
It's you and me my friend.
What do you think?
