➡️ Arranged in chains
➡️ From throat swab or wound
Your first thought should be:
Streptococcus species → Do a catalase test
Catalase = negative ❌ → Now you’re thinking Strep
Then check hemolysis → Beta hemolytic
Then test → PYR positive + Bacitracin sensitive
Boom → S. pyogenes
