Projects , why do mechanics have all these projects ??????
They have them because the projects are like a tax free savings accounts !
For example my project at the moment is a 1957 backhoe , it’s in terrible condition , but the Eng and trans are good . Steering inop can’t even drive it ! Rear arm only moves one way major prob with swing arm . Cylinders leaking but working ! Tires bad !!
So you ask why on earth would anyone want this heap. Simple answer unless they are a mechanic it’s completely worthless. But if you are . You see I bought it for 500 bucks . That’s less then scrap price . I have assessed the work ordered parts and am well in the way to making it mechanically sound !!!!
Then grind it down put a cheap paint job on it I will have about 1000 dollars in parts . Of course a lot of labor , but this machine will sell for 9000 dollars. That’s why we do it because we can , you don’t have to be a super tech to fix this old stuff up and make a lot of money . I can do it you can do it , this takes common sense not mechanical skills !
So don’t be shy if you can buy it cheap buy it. Fix it sell it.
