🚗 Basic Vehicle Maintenance Checklist (Save & Share!) 🔧
Keeping your vehicle in good shape doesn’t have to be complicated. Here’s a solid checklist of things you should be checking regularly:
🛢️ Fluids (Check Monthly or Before Long Trips)
- Engine oil (level & condition)
- Coolant / antifreeze
- Transmission fluid
- Brake fluid
- Power steering fluid
- Windshield washer fluid
🔋 Battery
- Check for corrosion on terminals
- Make sure connections are tight
- Test voltage if vehicle is slow to start
🛞 Tires
- Tire pressure (including spare)
- Tread depth & wear pattern
- Look for cracks, bulges, or punctures
- Rotate tires every 5,000–7,500 miles
🛑 Brakes
- Listen for squeaking or grinding
- Check brake pad thickness
- Pay attention to vibration or pulling
💡 Lights
- Headlights (high & low beam)
- Brake lights
- Turn signals
- Reverse lights
- Interior lights
🔍 Belts & Hoses
- Look for cracks, fraying, or leaks
- Squeeze hoses to check for softness or brittleness
🌬️ Air Filters
- Engine air filter
- Cabin air filter
🧊 Cooling System
- Check radiator and hoses for leaks
- Make sure fans are operating properly
🧽 Wipers & Washer System
- Inspect wiper blades for wear
- Ensure washer nozzles spray properly
⚙️ Suspension & Steering
- Listen for clunks or squeaks
- Check for uneven tire wear
- Pay attention to steering feel
🚘 General Walkaround
- Look for fluid leaks under vehicle
- Check for rust or damage
- Make sure nothing is hanging loose underneath
📅 Bonus Tip:
Stick to your manufacturer’s service intervals for things like spark plugs, timing belts, and transmission service.
Regular checks = fewer breakdowns, safer driving, and longer vehicle life.
