I want to offer an anti-theory and build a community around this important topic. Mathematics is more than computation, problem solving, and prediction—those tidy frames mistake the instrument for the music. Mathematics is a language of description and, more importantly, a discipline of attention through the senses. Practiced well, it sharpens what we notice, names what deserves focus, and lets us hold competing possibilities long enough to choose a wise next move. The mind runs what we call a human sensemaking loop—sense → model → move → update—and mathematics makes that loop explicit: tuning sight into structure, feel into magnitude, and hunch into probability, so judgment becomes something we can share, critique, and improve. This group is about shifting the cultural approach to mathematics as a creative force rather than a computational force.
