Yesterday, one of my clients messaged me and said she wasn’t going to make her workout. She’s a nurse, a business owner, a wife, and someone who pours into everyone around her all day long.
The funny thing is, I completely understood.
Yesterday, my day started with a 5:30 AM client. I got my own workout in, worked all day, didn’t get home until the evening, took a quick nap, woke up just long enough to shower, and went right back to sleep. My body was telling me exactly what it needed: REST.
What hurts progress is quitting. What helps progress is listening.
When we’re constantly running on empty, our bodies know it. Stress hormones like cortisol can stay elevated, recovery suffers, energy drops, and sometimes the body starts holding onto the very weight, inflammation, and fatigue we’re trying to get rid of.
Rest is not weakness. Rest is recovery. Rest is strategy.
The key is what my client did next: she didn’t quit. She simply said, “I’ll make it up tomorrow.”
That’s the difference.
Life is going to happen. Work will demand your attention.
Family will need you.
Your business will need you. But don’t let one missed workout convince you that you’re off track.
Take the rest when your body truly needs it.
Then get back to work.
Progress isn’t built by being perfect. It’s built by showing up again.
Today is a new day. Let’s move our bodies and take care of ourselves the same way we take care of everyone else. 💪🏾
