The biggest part of my creative process is actually the collecting. I live on a small island in a rural community, so I don’t have fast access to big craft stores or specialty supplies. Instead, I spend a lot of time wandering beaches, trails, and roadsides, staring at the ground and scanning for anything that catches my eye.
I buy very little when it comes to my builds. I genuinely enjoy the challenge of recreating things from found objects and scraps. A piece of driftwood might become a roof, a shell might become a sink, and a seed pod might inspire an entirely new room.
For me, it’s a different form of play. The collecting, imagining, and problem-solving are just as rewarding as the building itself. It’s also one of my favourite ways to quiet my mind and connect with nature.
