I don't understand Slack, help, how do you use it for group programmes?

I've recently switched to Slack to run my group coaching programme (used to use Voxer) on the advice of Mariah. I've done some 1:1s on there and can see the value of having the transcript, and appreciate that it's SO MUCH less clunky. However, I'm really confused how it works. Do you have a specific workspace for each coaching group? Or is there a way to invite people to different sections of the workspace? I can obv watch some videos online but I was wondering if anyone could share best practice?
