Is this a realistic goal?

I always wear a crew cut but I want to reinvent myself. I liked what AI generated for me but I don't know if it's a realistic look to acheive. My hair is thinning but Rogaine is on the way. I have a few questions. I know AI is the idealized version and not representative of reality. But do you think its realistic to achieve something similar? Should I go to my barber or find a hairstylist when my hair is long enough? Any tips for my journey? I'm a few months in.

This is where my hair is at now, and the 2nd picture is where I want to be. I've since shaved my goatee to stubble length (after picture was taken)
