🌊 I am proud to announce that Unity Swimming CIC have been awarded a Lotto Community Fund grant for our new project #BeyondTheSurface, a joint project with UOCEAN® 2050.🚨

From 🏊🏾‍♀️ Swimming to ⛵️ Sailing Chris Desai founder of UOCEAN and I will be diversifying #SpacesofWater.

👉🏽 We first met at University of Leicester on a social enterprise incubator course with Dorothy Francis MBE , Tobias Gould and Helen Leach and Steve King ‼️

👌🏽 Together, we’ll give disadvantaged young people from all walks of life, especially from #Black and #Asian #communities, the chance to be on, by, and in the water in a boat!

‼️ This matters because drowning disproportionately affects these communities — they are more than twice as likely to drown compared to white counterparts.

👉🏽 UOCEAN, led by Chris, is breaking barriers through water conservation, water conservationand community education, and is a role model in the Sailing world. Together, we’re not just saving lives — we’re building confidence, opportunity, and a new generation connected to the water.
