I wanted to share my project with all of you!
TL;DR at the end if you want to skip the preachy, rant part!
I've been working on a personal project since January of this year. It's a webapp. Back when MTV stopped playing music videos on cable TV on December 31st, 2025, it was a significant moment for me. My childhood was shaped by watching music videos before school in the morning. Every single day for years, it naturally became the soundtrack to my life—to the point that I still associate certain memories and feelings with specific videos. I'm sure other people have that thing, whatever it may be.
I have not shared this with anyone outside my household. I have worked day in and day out on this since January. I plan on making a big release post on reddit and a few other sites to get the ball rolling on getting the user count going. I've launched many websites in the last 10 years. This project almost died in January when I couldn't get the first prototype to function at all. I didn't look at it again until mid February. But when I came back to it, I had my light bulb moment. I figured out the issue. And I ran into many more along the way, but I kept figuring it out. I obsessed for months. I promised myself I wouldn't release it until it felt ready. And today, I knew it was finally ready. And the irony is, it's the day I start at Maestro.
I present to you MVTCast.com, a passion project dedicated to bringing the golden era of music television back to life. It's a fully functional, interactive retro TV right in your browser that broadcasts endless streams of classic music videos. You can turn the dial to specific decades, load up curated 'VHS mixtapes' (think TRL Era, Warped Tour '04, or 90s Headbangers Ball), and the TV even has a CRT scanline filter for that authentic tube TV glow. It's designed to recreate that exact feeling of zoning out to music videos on your bedroom floor before the morning school bus. We also have a secondary custom theme called Y2K CRT that swaps the VHS shelf for a special surprise that'll bring you right back to the 2000s. It's integrated with discord and you get an automatic shoutout in the chat every time you heart a song, even without being logged in to discord.
This live build of the site is the 175th version before I was ready to release a version 1.0. I'd really appreciate any feedback you guys have, especially constructive criticism!
