The Importance Of Warming Up
Most people skip it. Don't be most people.
A warm up is not wasted time. It is the difference between a good workout and an injury that sets you back weeks.
Here's what a proper warm up actually does:
Increases your body temperature — your muscles work better when they're warm. Cold muscles are stiff and more likely to tear.
Gets blood flowing to the right places — your body starts sending oxygen and nutrients to the muscles you're about to use.
Prepares your joints — your knees, hips, and shoulders need to be primed before you load them with weight.
Mentally locks you in — a warm up is a signal to your brain that it's time to work. It transitions you from whatever you were doing before to being fully present in your training.
A simple 5 minute warm up before any workout:
  • 2 minutes of light cardio — walk, jog, jumping jacks
  • 10 leg swings each side
  • 10 arm circles each direction
  • 10 bodyweight squats
  • 10 hip circles
That's it. Five minutes. Every single time.
Your body will thank you and your workouts will be better for it.
Don't skip the warm up. 💪
