I used to make High End Leather products...as a hobby.
What I learned about life and business from working with leather...
1.) Skills shouldn't be rushed; good things take time.
2.) You will suck at first, so did Mozart, keep going.
3.) Don't compare your work to someone else's...their aptitude may be higher than yours, but that doesn't make you less skilled because they learned it faster.
4.) Going slowly, attention to detail, and willingness to screw up create heirloom quality products that sell for 10-20x more than mass produced crap. I used to charge $500 for an heirloom quality sheath.
5.) Using hand tools is cathartic and stress relieving.
Take the time to get good at something that you can do with your hands.
Creating recurring income that handles your monthly nut and them some gives you the freedom to pursue things you enjoy for active income.
