Welcome! Get to know me!
We are going to do a deep dive into the role of being a kinship caregiver. My husband and I are kinship caregivers to a family member‘s child. We were awarded custody of him in 2018 and are currently working through the process of adoption.
I am a guardian ad litem and I volunteer with an organization called CASA. CASA stands for court appointed special advocate. Keep in mind that I am not an attorney and I will not give legal advice in this group.
The goal of this group is to be a resource for others who are in the kinship caregiver role. There are tons of questions and very little support for kinship caregivers. We recognize the lack of resources and support and we are here to build a strong community to help you thrive in that role.
We look forward to hearing your stories, celebrating your successes, and learning from the difficulties that you have faced. Please feel free to ask questions.
Keep in mind that everyone’s situation is different. I encourage honest, respectful discussion, and creating a space of empowerment.
