The Firmament? 🤔
Raqi'aa רקיע, the word for "expanse" (misunderstood as a firmament) is rooted from /rqʕ/ and its etymological derivation is from /rq/. Its Semantic value is expressed as /rqʔ/ and /rqq/ in the spectrum of "Semitic" languages, and they collectively denote "a flattened cauldron shaped object with the capacity of sprinkling, inferring gyroscopic movement.
The raqi'aa was positioned in the mesosphere, otherwise known as the area between the exosphere (waters above) and the troposphere (the waters beneath), an atmospheric terrain replete with static electrical charges serving as a medium between our domain and the domain of the object that constructed it from above.
°By the way, the mesosphere is the "earth" of concern in creation mythology. Where y'all get the idea that it is speaking on the whole planet is beyond me.
°Mind you, the mesosphere when observed from the underworld (our terrain) appears as two (2) heights, which is the exact semantic value of the term "שׁמים" - which also happens to be exactly what the deity called the edifice after it was constructed (Gen 1:8). Where you folk get the entire universe from that idea, I have no clue.
There are various descriptions of this edifice throughout the text (mentions it more than anything else, honestly), but the most vivid can be found in Ezekiel 1.
"And I looked and behold a wind, a torrent came from הַצָּפ֗וֹן (from צוף, "to overlook"; directionally, _Latitudinal North_ (straight above)); a great cloud and fire grasping itself and its brilliance was surrounding it. And in its center, it was as an Eye of Topaz in the midst of the fire."
While the verse above and the concept of the raqi'aa seem separate, let us compare:
°A "torrential wind from directly above" is related to the wind of God fluttering upon the face of the waters (Gen. 1:2c).
° In order for the wind of God to be observed as fluttering upon anything with the darkness mentioned to be over an abyss (Gen 1:2a), it would have to be luminescent itself. In this fashion, another aspect of the torrential wind - from "God" is being described, but the detail of it as a fire encircling itself is mentioned in this particular iteration (explained a bit below).
° That there was the appearance of an eye of Topaz in the center of the disc shaped gyroscopic mass indicates an agent of illumination, or a low mass star, experienced a sustained flaring event (Gen. 1:3).
Should someone witness a star experiencing a micronova, the first thing they would see is the darkening of the poles. This would be followed by the excretion of of a nebulous cloud from both polarities, congregating equatorially in a formless whirling mass (Gen 1:2a). As a result of the circuital oscillation of the clouds at the star's equator, light would be obscured and the sky tinted (Gen. 1:2b). Charged protons (and electrons and neutrinos) would be strewn about, and the impact to the earth would create intense auroral displays (Gen 1:2c). These circuital auroral displays would be responsible for distributing moisture from the above waters into the waters beneath, ultimately misting the underworld (Gen 2:6). These conditions would endure so long as the nebulous cloud exists and sustains - which could be millennia by our standards under certain auspices.
I can't stress enough that the raqi'aa and "שמים" are exactly the same thing and it was formed AFTER the deity shed its light.
Stay tuned.
