Keep Going family!
We had such an incredible time at the 5K today! About 130 runners, racers, and walkers came out, and the weather was absolutely perfect for the event. There's something so fulfilling about being of service - handing out water to keep everyone hydrated and being part of something that brings the community together.
Funny story though - we got dropped in the middle of a field that backed up to some overgrown brush, and as soon as we started pouring water, we got absolutely ATTACKED by mosquitoes! π They came out of nowhere! We had to quickly move our table and improvise, but we managed to get everyone their water (while swatting bugs the entire time).
One of my favorite parts was watching my friend's son, who was grounded and had to come help as his "penalty." I think it ended up being the best time he's ever spent being grounded! There's something beautiful about showing kids the value of service at a young age. He was laughing and having a great time helping others.
At the end of the event, we handed out our Keep Going bracelets with the QR codes linking to our community. Hopefully, that will bring some new members to our family here!
SPECIAL WELCOME: If you're here from scanning one of those QR codes today, PLEASE introduce yourself to the group! Let us know what number is on your business card and you could win a special prize! π
This is what recovery community looks like - showing up, serving others, laughing through the chaos (and mosquitoes), and spreading hope one bracelet at a time.
Days like today remind me why we do this work. Every person we serve, every bracelet we share, every moment of connection - it all matters.
Who's ready for our next community service opportunity? πͺ
Keep Going with service and joy! Lynn
