Take a deep breath and regulate your nervous system first
Our knee-jerk reactions often come from wanting to control the situation and yes, to protect our peace but also because certain people trigger wounds we’re still healing. When you’re dealing with irrational or difficult individuals, those buttons get pushed quickly.
What I’ve learned through my own personal work and what I teach at Kashmere Hands Academy is this:
Disengagement is a form of self-respect.
Some people will never show up in a healthy way, no matter how much clarity or kindness you offer. Over time, you learn what conversations to have, what to release, and where silence is the healthier choice especially when you must maintain some form of connection with them.
Always choose to be a grounded example for your children, your friends, and above all, yourself.
This is how you preserve your energy, nurture your inner peace, and maintain the level of self-care needed to thrive in your life and purpose.
