The off-season is one of the best opportunities to refine your skills and focus on the details that need attention.
During the season, you're playing games, practicing and trying to perform. The off-season gives you the time to step back and ask:
What do I need to get better at?
Maybe it's:
⚾ Hitting mechanics
⚾ Fielding & footwork
⚾ Throwing
⚾ Pitching
⚾ Baserunning
🧠 Mental game
📊 Improving measurable performance
Once you identify those areas, the off-season is the time to get the reps in. Slow things down, work on the movement, build consistency and then gradually increase the speed and difficulty.
For throwing and pitching, though, arm care still needs to be part of the plan. You don't need to spend the entire off-season throwing at high volumes. There are plenty of ways to develop without constantly putting stress on the arm.
The goal is to use the off-season to build the skills and habits that will help you when the season starts.
I'm looking at putting together some off-season development opportunities focused on skill refinement and getting quality reps in.
So I'm curious:
What is the #1 skill you or your player would want to work on this off-season?
