Why "Powerup"?
I chose the word "Powerup" (as opposed to "Power Up") because it means a thing that gives you a boost. I am building this community to be a resource for job seekers and to give them an advantage to find new opportunities.
Powerup (one word)
  • Noun
  • Refers to the thing that gives you the boost — the tool, resource, or advantage.
  • Common in gaming: a special item that gives a temporary advantage (speed boost, extra life, shield).
  • Example: “Networking is the ultimate career powerup.” (the actual advantage you gain).
Power Up (two words)
  • Verb phrase
  • Means to increase strength, ability, or energy — often sudden or intentional.
  • Originates from electronics (powering up a device) and video games (gaining extra abilities or lives).
  • Example: “It’s time to power up your job search.” (take it to the next level, boost it).
