The Difference Between a Strong Idea and a Strong Story
Many manuscripts start with compelling ideas, unique concepts, vivid worlds, or meaningful themes. But having a strong idea doesn’t always translate into a story that holds a reader’s attention from beginning to end.
What often makes the difference is how clearly the story is shaped around that idea, how events connect, how tension builds, and how the reader is guided through the narrative.
I’ve seen cases where a simple idea becomes a powerful story with the right structure, and others where a great concept struggles because the direction isn’t fully defined.
Curious to hear your thoughts, do you find it easier to come up with ideas, or to develop them into a complete, engaging story?
