Days to Harvest 40 to 85 days depending on what variety you're growing. They need full-sun and consistent water, well-draining fertile soil pH of 7.0, fertilizer should be a balanced fertilizer or compost of your choice.
- Note: Pay attention to common diseases such as powdery mildew, bacterial wilt, cucurbit scab, root rot fusarium wilt, phytophthora crown and cucumber mosaic virus. (CMV)
See list below for Cucumber Varieties and their use:
- Slicing Cucumbers: great for eating fresh or used in salads, they are juicy and crispy these have a very thin skin.
- Pickling Cucumbers have a thicker skin which is used for pickling great to store.
I listed some of my favorites to grow at home:
- Bush Champion 55 days to harvest grows well in small spaces CMV resistant and are great producers.
- Arkansas little leaf 55 days to harvest, highly resistant to bacterial wilt, mildews. Scab leaf spots very small plant large harvest!
