The Devil
What is your take on this card?
I feel he gets a bit of a hard rap. I know sometimes no good comes out of the tasks that he needs to do to keep us bound in some type of addiction or habit that we just can't shake. Over time, I've found him to have mellowed down and become a bit of an ally. In my life, that is. He became a fallen Angel because he didn't feel good enough and wanted to compete for God's attention. He couldn't compete with Jesus or Mary, who were the apple of God's eye. (Information gained from a Catholic Priest who is an exorcist and has spoken with him). Which basically makes him not much different from us in some respects. I'm not taking him off the hook by any means and walking down his pathway, because a life of restraint, obsession, or habits that don't allow my growth is just not my thing.
The question that we do need to ask is why have you put me in this bind? When listening within, you can get many answers, due to the lies he speaks. But within those answers there is a grain of truth; it just takes a bit to find it, and when you do and act accordingly, the binds slowly come off. It's like jumping on each side of the good/bad, positive/negative line and comparing what works for me and what doesn't. It's not for the faint-hearted either; jumping from one extreme to the other, you really need to be able to come back to centre and not forget who you are at the core.

Tarot doesn't tell you who you are. It creates conversations that help you remember who you've always been.
