Hereโs my Day 1 National Poets Society challenge!
I wrote this poem reflecting on a moment of clarity and transformation while I was on the bow of a boat off the shores of Key West, Florida. Itโs about stepping back, seeing life differently, and choosing to live for myself.

The Moment Everything Changed
Sitting on the bow of a boat,
Canned beer in my hand
In the middle of the commotion
Snorkel mask, a giant fishbowl
I thought to myself:
There is more to this potion
Than work, eat, sleep, repeat
I can fly away
I can create
I can swim in a new ocean
In that momentโendless blue
Striking orange, yellow, and new
The sun kissed my face
The water lit my soul
I decidedโ
To love my life
To live for more
