One of My Personal Favorite Improv Moments Captured Ever
There are many special improv moments in my life that never get captured. The ones that do remain like a time capsule of a special moment to get replayed again at a future time.
This one moment got captured.
This was the first time I'd heard this moving song, RUSH OF LOVE. Can't you hear the emotion in Cabe's voice as he's singing?
I'm proud of how the flute eased in seamlessly, providing the texture of the wind to the ensemble of guitar, bass, drum, and voice. I was like the response to his calling.
This was a memorable day for us all.
When the song ended, David, our drummer, stepped away into the bathroom...
Returning to our practice room, with tissues to his face, he dabbed his eyes. He was crying.
He explained how he'd been moved to tears during our song.
He explained how, when surfing the week before, he'd seen his life flash before his eyes.
He saw us and his wife and all his precious moments rushing through his mind's eye just like in the movies when you die, and he wondered if he'd ever come back up. 😭
Fortunately for us, he did. And we continued to produce the 2nd Cosmic Butterflies album, LOVER SONGS... with several juicy flute solos!
Check out the studio version of "Rush of Love" in the playlist above and compare it to our private band practice recording. Which do you prefer? 🟪
