Morning team! Small daily reps beat last-minute cramming every time. Let's get one rep in today. ๐ช
๐ค Speaking Task of the Day (Part 2 โ Cue Card)
Describe a place you visited that left a strong impression on you.
You should say:
- where it is
- when you went there
- what you did there
- and explain why it left such a strong impression on you.
You have 1 minute to prepare (make notes) and 2 minutes to speak.
Band 6 snippet: "I went to a small mountain village last summer. It was very quiet and the air was clean. I walked around and took some photos. It made me feel calm because there was no noise from cars."
Band 8 upgrade: "Last summer I stumbled upon a tiny mountain village that was off the beaten track. The air was crisp and the silence was almost therapeutic. I spent hours just wandering and snapping photos, and it stayed with me because it offered a real escape from city life."
- stumbled upon = found by chance (natural, idiomatic)
- off the beaten track = far from popular tourist spots (great topic-specific idiom)
- almost therapeutic = strong, precise way to say "very relaxing"

โ๏ธ Writing Task of the Day (Task 2 โ Opinion)
Some people believe that tourism does more harm than good to local communities. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Skeleton:
- Intro โ paraphrase the topic + state your position clearly.
- Body 1 โ main benefit/harm with one developed example.
- Body 2 โ the opposing or supporting view, developed.
- Conclusion โ restate your stance, no new ideas.
๐ Examiner tip: Don't sit on the fence. "Agree/disagree" essays need a clear position held consistently. Vague answers ("both sides have points") cap your Task Response at Band 5โ6.
- ๐ข Lower levels: write only the introduction (2โ3 sentences) with a clear opinion.
- ๐ต Advanced: write the full essay in 40 minutes (250+ words).
๐ Reading Tip of the Day โ True / False / NOT GIVEN
Trap: Not Given โ False. "False" means the text contradicts the statement. "Not Given" means the text simply doesn't mention it.
Mini-passage: "The museum reopened in 2019 after a two-year renovation. Visitor numbers rose sharply that year, and the cafรฉ on the ground floor became especially popular among students."
Statement: The renovation was funded by the government. โ NOT GIVEN.
Why? Funding is never mentioned. It feels plausible, but plausibility isn't evidence. If you can't point to a line that proves or disproves it, it's Not Given โ don't guess "False."
๐ฌ Your turn: Do you agree tourism harms local communities, or help them thrive? Tell me in the comments! ๐
