Hey everyone! Just saw this important warning from Newsweek that I HAD to share with our community.
**The National Weather Service has issued extreme heat warnings across 29 states**, and they're specifically warning pet owners about "dangerously hot conditions."
## The Reality Check That'll Save Lives:
**Car interiors reach LETHAL temperatures in just MINUTES** - even with windows cracked. The NWS is explicitly telling people: "Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles."
## Protect Your Furry Family Members:
✅ **NEVER leave them in the car** - not even for "just a minute"
✅ **Provide constant access to fresh water** - refill bowls frequently
✅ **Create multiple shade spots** - dogs will move as the sun moves
✅ **Limit outdoor time** during peak heat hours (10am-4pm)
✅ **Walk on grass, not pavement** - if it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for paws
## Signs of Heat Exhaustion in Dogs:
- Heavy panting and drooling
- Lethargy or weakness
- Vomiting or diarrhea
- Loss of coordination
**States currently under warnings include:** Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and 12 more under heat advisories.
**This is the first major heat wave of the year** - our pets aren't acclimated yet, making it even more dangerous.
Let's look out for each other and our four-legged friends! Share this with anyone who needs to see it.
