Hey everyone, welcome to our Human Values community.
If you’re here, it’s probably because something in you refuses to look away from the major issues facing currently facing our Global Community. You care about the human cost of war and violence, about children and families caught in violence, and about what it means to live by your own Values when the world feels like it's headed in a negative direction.
I’m James -- a retired military officer who’s served over 24 years in uniform and has been working through my own questions about conscience, responsibility, and what “doing the right thing” actually looks like in real life. The Human Values YouTube channel started as me talking through those questions. Now we’re building something bigger together! 🌎 ❤️ ☮️ https://www.youtube.com/@HumanValuesLife What our community is for
- Honest conversations about how to live with real empathy for other human beings, no matter where they are in our world
- Highlighting and learning from leaders who embody positive Human Values — Integrity, Courage, Humility, and Compassion — so we can choose, elect, and follow leaders of character.
- Supporting projects like the Human Values Life Foundation and, over time, the Minab School Memorial & Family Support project, as tangible expressions of our shared conscience. (project currently in the works)
- Encouraging each other to live a “More than Words” life — where our differences are respected, our unique backgrounds add to the strength of this community, and we each take small, concrete actions we can actually follow through on to make someone else’s life a little safer, kinder, or more seen.
What our community is NOT for
- Division or aggressive / demeaning political rhetoric
- Personal attacks, dehumanizing language, or cheering for anyone’s suffering
- Spamming, self‑promotion, or conspiracy rabbit holes
We’re here to try to be better humans together. That’s it.
Your first step (please do this)
In the comments below, please share three things:
- Where you’re watching from (city/country).
- One experience, story, or piece of news that woke you up to the human cost of war or injustice.
- One thing you hope we can do here that feels like “More than Words” to you.
I’ll read every comment and respond. Your answers will shape what we build here — the content, the events, and the nonprofit projects. You’re not just an observer; you’ll help decide the direction this community takes.
Thank you for being here. I don’t take your attention or your Trust lightly and will always do my best to EARN both.
– James
