The one drill that fixes slow feet
Hey hoopers,
Quote of the day: "The key is not the will to win... everybody has that. It is the will to prepare to win that is important." - Bobby Knight
Quick question: Does your first step look slow on film?
Most hoopers think they need to get faster or jump higher to get around defenders.
But speed without control is just running in circles.
Here's what actually works:
Better footwork = quicker first step = more space = easier to get to the rim.
The problem? Most players practice shots but skip the footwork that gets them open in the first place.
And it shows in the game.
Think about it:
You can have the smoothest jump shot, but if you can't create separation off the dribble, you're taking contested shots all game.
You can be the fastest kid on the court, but if your footwork is sloppy, defenders will cut you off every time.
Footwork is the difference between getting to your spot and getting stuck.
Here's the truth:
Every week you practice without fixing your footwork is another week of bad habits you start to repeat.
And bad habits take twice as long to break as they do to build.
It's easy enough to do at home, but effective enough that I use it with every athlete I train.
If you thought this workout is good, I have 12 weeks of this stuff in phase 2.
Work on what matters,
Tyler
P.S. Fast feet without fundamentals = wasted speed. Fix the foundation first.
