✨️We lived the dream we were handed, not the one we carried ✨️
When I came home from Kenya this year, I said to a friend, “They sold us their dream.”
She asked me what I meant.
Growing up, the opportunities presented to us were limited—or at least they were framed that way. I was told: Get a good job. Work for the government. Secure the benefits. Retire.
And that was the path that I chose.
Not because it was my dream—but because it was the dream handed to me by family, culture, and survival.
But even back in high school, I saw something different for myself.
I envisioned entrepreneurship. Ownership. Multiple streams. Freedom.
That dream didn’t disappear—it was buried. Quietly pushed aside while I pursued what others believed was “safe” and “smart.”
Kenya reminded me of something powerful:
A life lived on autopilot is still a life—but it may not be yours.
So many of us are walking around living inherited expectations instead of authentic desires. And people will tell you who to be—until you know who you are.
Take the time to look inward.
Ask yourself what dream you abandoned.
Reconnect with the vision that once made your spirit come alive.
Your authenticity is the permission slip.
Your dreams are valid.
And it’s never too late to choose your life.
