NEW MOON SOLAR ECLIPSE
The Leo Eclipse of August 12, 2026: What to Actually Do
By Helena Hathor — Paid Subscriber Exclusive
Do you remember where you were on August 21, 2017?
I want you to sit with that for a moment. That was the last total solar eclipse across the Leo axis it shifted something in the collective that we are still living inside. What were you doing? Who were you with? What began, or ended, in the six months that followed?
Because here we are, nine years later, and the cosmos is handing us another doorway. On August 12, 2026, we have a total new moon solar eclipse at 20 degrees Leo. And next year, on August 2, 2027, we get another total solar eclipse at 9 degrees Leo. The Leo axis is active, and it is not asking for your permission. It is asking for your participation.
But here is what I really need you to understand: this eclipse is not just about Leo. It is about where Leo ends and Aquarius begins.
The North Node in Aquarius: Your True Destination
In July 2026, the lunar nodes shifted into a brand-new axis: North Node in Aquarius, South Node in Leo. They will travel here until March 2028. This eclipse is inaugurating a whole new karmic chapter.
The cycle now closing stretches back to December 2007 — the last time the nodes moved through Aquarius and Leo. Think about who you were then. What were you building? What were you afraid of? What dreams got shelved under "practicality"? That story is coming full circle.
The South Node in Leo asks you to release the ego-driven need for approval. The performative self. The identity built on who notices you. The applause-chasing. The belief that love, success, or safety requires you to be seen a certain way.
But the North Node in Aquarius — this is your true destination for the next 18 months. This is where your soul is pulling you. Aquarius is the innovator, the humanitarian, the authentic outsider who does not need permission to exist. The North Node in Aquarius says: your growth, your purpose, and your future lie in community, in authenticity, in service to something bigger than your personal story, and in the courage to be radically, unapologetically yourself.
This eclipse sits on the South Node in Leo, which makes it a powerful release point. But do not mistake release for loss. You are not losing anything real. You are shedding a costume. And what you step into — what the North Node in Aquarius is building for you — is more liberating than anything you leave behind.
Eclipses are absolute endings and absolute beginnings. The energy ripples outward for 18 months to 2 years in immediate ways, and reverberates for 18 years along the Saros cycle. What you seed now becomes the architecture of your life for nearly two decades. This is not small. This is foundational.
Why This Eclipse Is Different — And Why You Should Act
I know the old astrology books tell you to wait, to hesitate, to avoid big moves during an eclipse. But those books were written for eclipses that arrived with hard squares and oppositions. This eclipse is extraordinarily well-aspected. The sky is not warning you away from action. It is handing you a blueprint.
The Sun and Moon are trine Saturn. This is the difference between a flash-in-the-pan opportunity and structural, lasting transformation. Saturn is the architect. When the luminaries trine Saturn, we are not just dreaming — we are building. Whatever this eclipse brings, it has staying power.
Venus is trine Pluto and Uranus. Pluto brings depth, intensity, and soul-level transformation to love and values. Uranus brings surprise, innovation, and liberation. Together they are rewriting the old rules of love, money, and self-worth. This is electric. This is liberating. This is the kind of alignment that makes you look back and say, "That was the moment everything changed."
Jupiter and Mercury are co-present in Leo. And just days after the eclipse, on August 15, 2026, Jupiter and Mercury conjoin. This is cosmic confirmation. The eclipse opens the door, and the Jupiter-Mercury conjunction walks through it with good news, brilliant ideas, and opportunities you did not see coming.
This is a celebratory eclipse. This is joy. This is good news. If you have been slogging through the mud of the past few years, wondering when your turn comes — this is it.
What to Do: Release the Old, Step Into the New
I am going to be very direct with you, because you have paid for the real work:
This is your time to decide.
If something is ending, let it end. Do not negotiate. Do not drag it out. The eclipse will sever what needs severing, and because the aspects are so supportive, the cut will be clean. The South Node in Leo is doing the clearing for you. Your only job is to not cling.
If something is beginning, say yes. Sign the contract. Have the conversation. Book the flight. Post the announcement. Make the offer. The Jupiter-Mercury conjunction on August 15 is not a coincidence — it is confirmation that the decisions you make now carry long-term blessing.
Do not manifest from lack. The Jupiter-Saturn-Venus aspects mean the field is too fertile for desperation. Come from "I am ready to receive," not "I need this or I will die."
Do not apologize for your joy. This is a celebratory eclipse. If you feel like dancing, dance. If you feel like buying the dress, buy it. If you feel like shouting your good news from the rooftops, shout. Jupiter in Leo does not whisper. Neither should you.
Do not get pulled into drama. Leo-Aquarius eclipses can trigger social media warfare and collective hysteria. Stay out of it. Your energy is needed for your own portal, not someone else's soap opera.
By Sign: Where to Release, Where to Grow
Read for your Rising sign first, then your Sun and Moon. The Leo-ruled house is what you are releasing, celebrating, and closing a chapter on. The Aquarius-ruled house is where your North Node is pulling you — this is your destination, your growth edge, your soul's assignment for the next 18 months.
Aries Rising / Sun / Moon
Leo rules your 5th House — creativity, romance, children, self-expression. Aquarius rules your 11th House — community, friendships, hopes, dreams, collective causes.
You are releasing the need to be the star of every show. Stop performing for applause. Your true power emerges when you join forces with a community that shares your vision. A creative project could take off, but its real magic happens when it serves a collective. Romance may arrive through your social circle, or an existing relationship deepens because you stop needing your partner to be your audience. What would you create if you knew your community had your back?
What to do: Reach out to one person in your network with an authentic offer or collaboration. Do not wait to be picked. Pick yourself, then bring your people with you.
Taurus Rising / Sun / Moon
Leo rules your 4th House — home, family, roots. Aquarius rules your 10th House — career, public reputation, legacy.
You are releasing an old family story, a definition of home that no longer fits, or a role you have played within your family since childhood. Your growth and your public destiny are calling you forward. A home or family shift creates the space for a career breakthrough. You may step into a leadership role that feels terrifying and exhilarating. Your private healing becomes your public power.
What to do: Write a new professional bio that reflects who you are becoming, not who you have been. Update your LinkedIn, your website, your introduction. Claim the title. Claim the space.
Gemini Rising / Sun / Moon
Leo rules your 3rd House — communication, local community, siblings. Aquarius rules your 9th House — higher learning, travel, publishing, philosophy.
You are releasing an old way of speaking that was built on seeking validation. Stop tailoring your message to what your immediate circle wants to hear. Your voice becomes powerful when it carries a bigger truth. This eclipse could launch a writing or teaching endeavor that reaches a wide audience — possibly international. Your local neighborhood is the starting point; the world is the destination.
What to do: Post one true thought publicly with no editing. Send the pitch to the publication you think is out of your league. Book the class. The expansion is waiting for your yes.
Cancer Rising / Sun / Moon
Leo rules your 2nd House — income, values, self-worth. Aquarius rules your 8th House — shared resources, intimacy, transformation.
You are releasing an old story about what you deserve and how you earn your security. Your growth comes through deep trust, intimacy, and allowing others to invest in you — emotionally, spiritually, and materially. A financial opportunity may arrive through a partner or shared venture. But more than money, this is about learning to merge without losing yourself. Let someone hold you. Let someone fund you. Let someone see all of you.
What to do: State your worth aloud to a mirror. Then have the conversation — about the raise, the investment, the deeper commitment. Do it before August 15.
Leo Rising / Sun / Moon
Leo rules your 1st House — identity, body, personal path. Aquarius rules your 7th House — committed partnerships, marriage, contracts.
This is YOUR eclipse. The most significant one of the cycle. You are releasing an old identity — the version of yourself that needed applause to survive. Your true power and your future lie in partnership. Not the kind where you lose yourself — the kind where you are met. A significant relationship may begin, transform, or reach a commitment that redefines your entire path. The right partner does not dim your light; they reflect it back to you more clearly.
What to do: Ask someone you trust, "What do you see in me that I cannot see?" Then update your appearance in one small way — a haircut, a new item, a photo that looks like who you are now. Let the outside match the inside.
Virgo Rising / Sun / Moon
Leo rules your 12th House — solitude, spirituality, hidden matters, retreat, rest. Aquarius rules your 6th House — daily routines, health, work, service.
This is the most inward-facing eclipse of the cycle for you, and it is sacred work. You are releasing old subconscious fears and karmic patterns. But here is what I really want you to hear: the 12th house is the house of retreat, rest, and spiritual withdrawal. This eclipse is not asking you to hustle. It is asking you to stop. To go inward. To retreat.
Your growth comes through restructuring your daily life so it sustains your body and soul. But you cannot build a new routine from exhaustion. You must rest first. This eclipse may bring vivid dreams, intuitive downloads, or a calling to step back from the noise. A health matter may require you to slow down, and that slowing down is the medicine.
What to do: Give yourself permission to retreat. Cancel what you can. Nap during the eclipse window if you can — rest IS the ritual. The world will wait. Your soul will not.
Libra Rising / Sun / Moon
Leo rules your 11th House — friendships, community, networks. Aquarius rules your 5th House — creativity, romance, children, joy.
You are releasing an old social identity — the version of yourself that performed for your community or attached your dreams to group approval. Your growth comes through unapologetic self-expression, creative risk, and the courage to be the star of your own life. A creative project could take off. Romance may arrive because you stopped hiding your light. You have spent enough time being what others needed.
What to do: Create one thing just for you, not for an audience. A poem, a meal, a dance in your kitchen. Then, if you want, share it — but share it from fullness, not from need.
Scorpio Rising / Sun / Moon
Leo rules your 10th House — career, public reputation, authority. Aquarius rules your 4th House — home, family, roots.
You are releasing an old professional identity — the ambition, the status-seeking, the career path that looked impressive but felt hollow. Your true success is measured by the sanctuary you build, not the title you hold. A career shift may create space for a new home or family redefinition. You may find yourself prioritizing private fulfillment over public recognition — and discovering that this is where your real power lives.
What to do: Cook a meal at home and eat it slowly. Light a candle. Make your space feel like yours again. The legacy you are building now is an emotional one. It lives in the safety you create.
Sagittarius Rising / Sun / Moon
Leo rules your 9th House — higher learning, travel, publishing, philosophy. Aquarius rules your 3rd House — communication, local community, siblings.
You are releasing an old belief system — the philosophy, the worldview, the big-picture story you have clung to for identity. Your growth comes through your voice, your words, and your immediate environment. You may feel called to write, teach, podcast, or communicate in a way that reaches your local community first. The big vision is not wrong; it is simply being translated into the language of the here and now.
What to do: Have one honest conversation with a sibling, neighbor, or local contact. Send the email. Record the voice note. Your daily words are the vehicles of your destiny.
Capricorn Rising / Sun / Moon
Leo rules your 8th House — shared resources, intimacy, transformation. Aquarius rules your 2nd House — income, values, self-worth.
You are releasing an old pattern around merging, control, and the ways you have given your power away in intimate or financial entanglements. Your growth comes through building your own self-worth, your own income, and your own values — independent of anyone else. A financial opportunity may arrive that allows you to stand on your own two feet. This is not about isolation. It is about sovereignty.
What to do: Deposit something into your own savings — even one dollar — while saying "I am enough." Then raise your rates, state your price, or have the money conversation. You are learning that the most intimate thing you can do is know your own worth.
Aquarius Rising / Sun / Moon
Leo rules your 7th House — committed partnerships, contracts. Aquarius rules your 1st House — identity, body, personal path.
This is profound because the North Node is in your sign. You are releasing an old relationship pattern — the way you have merged with others, the partners you chose to complete you, the contracts you signed from need rather than wholeness. Your growth, your destiny, and your future are about becoming fully, radically yourself. A partnership may transform because you finally show up as you. Or a new relationship may begin precisely because you stopped performing.
What to do: Update your appearance in one small but visible way. Post the photo. Wear the thing. You are not here to be someone's other half. You are here to be whole. The right people will meet you there.
Pisces Rising / Sun / Moon
Leo rules your 6th House — daily routines, health, work, service. Aquarius rules your 12th House — solitude, spirituality, retreat.
You are releasing an old pattern of over-functioning, martyrdom, and the belief that your worth is tied to how much you serve or sacrifice. Your growth comes through retreat, spiritual practice, and surrender to something greater than your daily to-do list. You may feel an urgent need to step back from work, to rest, to dream, to connect with the divine. A health issue may force you to slow down — and that slowing down is the portal.
What to do: Do nothing for one full hour. Just be. No phone, no book, no productivity. Your greatest service to the world is not what you do. It is the frequency you hold when you are connected to source. Build a spiritual practice. Honor your need for solitude. The work will be there when you return, and you will return as someone new.
The 18-Year Ripple
I want you to understand something about eclipse energy that often gets missed. Yes, the immediate effects unfold over 18 months. But the Saros cycle means this eclipse is energetically connected to August 2008, August 1990, August 1972, and so on. Look back 18 years. What was the theme? What began? What ended? You are now in a new octave of that same story.
And looking forward — the seeds you plant now will be harvested in 2044. That is not hyperbole. That is how eclipses work. They are cosmic architects, not interior decorators. They build the skeleton of your life.
Take out a journal. Label it "Leo Eclipse 2026–2044." On August 12, write a letter to yourself dated August 2044. Describe your life as you hope it will be. Be specific but not rigid. Then write a letter from your August 2044 self back to you, describing what actually happened and what you are grateful for. Let the eclipse energy bridge those two voices.
Store the journal. Do not reread it for one year. On August 12, 2027 — the next Leo eclipse — read it. Then write again. This is how you track the 18-year Saros cycle in real time. This is how you become the architect, not the victim, of your fate.
Final Words
The free article tells people what is happening. This tells you what to do with it.
The North Node in Aquarius is not a suggestion. It is a compass. For the next 18 months, every time you feel the old Leo pull — perform, impress, be chosen — redirect toward your Aquarius house. Ask: What would the future version of me do? And then do that.
The eclipse on August 12 is the door. The Jupiter-Mercury conjunction on August 15 is the invitation. Your courage is the key.
This is your time. Release the old. Step into the new. The eclipse is helping you.
I will be walking this alongside you. If you feel called, share one sentence about what you are releasing and what you are claiming in the subscriber chat. I read every one.
See you on the other side.
