Today I walked into the kitchen half awake and saw the sink full of dishes. Normally I would sigh, tell myself I would get to it later when the kids are napping, and carry that tiny weight all day. Instead I rolled up my sleeves and started the water. It took 3 rounds of ten minutes. That was it. The counters were cleared by lunch time, and my brain felt quiet.
I realized how much stress comes from the little promises we make to ourselves and keep postponing. Every “I’ll do it later” stays open in the background of your mind. When I just handle it in the moment, the house feels calmer and so do I. No nagging thoughts. No mental clutter.
Sometimes peace is not a vacation. Sometimes it is simply washing the dish when you see the dish.
What's your small win for the day?
