Today I went along to Glasgow Expo organised by Hashtag Events, mainly to hear speak and finally meet her in person. I first met Sam through her Skool community, Social Selling on LinkedIn with Sam, and since then I have learned so much from her about LinkedIn, visibility, and building meaningful professional connections online. Hearing her speak today reminded me why she is known by many as the LinkedIn Queen. She has a way of making LinkedIn feel far less intimidating and much more human.
But what struck me most about today was not just the talk.
It was the people.
I did not have as much time as I would have liked, but even in a short visit, conversations started to open up. A chance meeting with somone that led to shared interests, ideas, and another connection I would never have expected.
That is what I value about events like this.
You may arrive with one reason for going, but if you stay open, other conversations begin. You meet people you were not looking for. You hear perspectives you did not expect. And sometimes the most useful part of the day is the conversation that was never in the diary.
Thank you to Hashtag Events for creating the space for these conversations to happen.
