The Night Before the Flame.
This is the threshold night. A liminal space.
In the Old Ways, the work was not done on Imbolc itself first, the preparations began the evening before.
The ancestors understood. The energy of Imbolc and fire does not arrive uninvited. The space must be prepared and ready. What is unprepared cannot hold what is sacred.
This was the night of clearing the final ash. The night of quiet readiness. The night when the house and the self, was made fit to receive Brigid.
In some cultures women left a shawl or blanket out tonight to recieve the blessings of Brigid. This would become a nurturing blanket for the year ahead. Children would be cocooned in it, laid over those who were poorly and generally brought a sense of comfort to the home.
You can feel the energy building as Imbolc approaches. Slowly increasing throughout the day. This isnt a day for active divination work but quiet reflection and preparation.
You do not call.
You do not invoke.
You stand ready.
You may notice, the quiet urge to pause rather than speak. A sense that “something is near” but not yet arrived.
Imbolc does not rush.
It approaches. Quietly. Calmly.
Today’s Practice is Preparation
Before sleep tonight look up quantum k healing and perhaps treat yourself to a salt bath. Look up our Brigid herbal salt bath blend.
Tidy your altar area (if you have one). Set time aside to sit quietly for a moment.
Affirmation
“I am ready to receive what is meant for me.
I am worthy"
Do not light extra candles.
Do not set intentions.
Do not ask.
Sleep.
Imbolc arrives with the bird song.
